Amazon Prime Day: The Internets Biggest Sale
Known as the biggest shopping event for the Amazon company, Amazon Prime Day is known as an annual deal event exclusively for Amazon Prime members. An anticipated day for bargain hunters to save on a variety of offered items across all product categories from top brands and small businesses. The sales event is usually held within a 24-36-hour time frame, depending on the company. It has been seen that the timeframe is adjusted accordingly, where at one point it lasted a span of 48 hours in 2019. Amazon Prime Day would be considered as a big sales event comparable to the notorious Black Friday, and the best way to take advantage of the sales event would be to be part of Amazon’s Prime membership.
Introduced in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary, the inaugural event has extended its access to other countries outside of the US every year and continues to dominate online shopping by reaching-breaking sales. Customers are drawn into great deals by its system of offering many simultaneous discounts on products throughout the event. Lighting deals (deals that reoccur at specific times) is seen and even deals leading up to the event can be identified. Amazon strives to keep customer retention to drive sales and interest in the time before and during the event.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon Prime Day was pushed to the later dates of October 13-14 instead of the usual timeframe in July. The focus of the recent Amazon Prime Day was to support medium and small-sized businesses to succeed in sales, which they were able to achieve in this sales event.
