 The BCITMA Committee Structure

Finance

  • Our primary mission is to provide consistent, detailed reporting that enables leaders and other VPs to make well-informed decisions while ensuring accountability across all financial activities. We carefully compile and review financial reports, presenting them in a comprehensive format that is easy to understand. Our work aims to support BCITMA’s overall goals and promote a strong foundation of financial responsibility and trust.

Operations

  • Tasked with overseeing crucial communications, scheduling and logistics, this committee plays a vital role in keeping our association’s activities running seamlessly throughout the year. Our committee members are driven, detail-oriented individuals with strong coordination skills and a knack for clear and effective communication, thriving on teamwork and problem-solving. Case team

  • This elite marketing competition brings together top schools from across North and South America, including Ivy League institutions, to solve real-world marketing challenges provided by high-profile corporate sponsors. Our team consistently competes at a high level, and over the past three years, we’ve secured top-three placements, showcasing the talent and dedication of BCIT students. By participating, you’ll gain valuable experience in tackling complex business problems and presenting strategic solutions to industry leaders.

Student Outreach

Professional Development

  • Students can enhance their skills and expand their networks through industry tours, educational workshops, and guest speaker events hosted throughout the year. 

    Some of the events the committee hosts include industry tours, educational workshops, and guest speakers events to gain insightful advice from industry professionals. One of our standout events is Marketing Week, a week filled with marketing-focused activities designed to support career development. If you are interested in attending networking events or looking to prepare yourself for the industry, then this is the committee for you!

Mentorship

  • These mentors provide valuable guidance, answer questions, and share insights based on their experiences from the previous year. This structured mentorship provides a mutually beneficial relationship among students. Students will receive support in skill development and confidence building, equipping them for success in their education. Ultimately, Mentorship is a transactive relationship that offers personal insights and significant opportunities for growth for both parties.

Schmoozapalooza

  • With an average of over 200 attendees, this event offers second-year BCIT Digital Marketing and Brand Strategy students the opportunity to connect with industry professionals prior to beginning their internships in March. First-year students interested in the Digital Marketing and Brand Strategy option who volunteer will have an inside look at the event before their own internships the following year. Join this committee to create meaningful connections with industry professionals and put your event planning to the test!

Events

  • This committee organizes various functions throughout the school year to provide students with networking and professional development opportunities and fun fundraising opportunities for the BCITMA. This allows students to escape from school activities and have some fun, all while putting their planning skills to work.

    This includes events such as ticketed student outings, bake sales, Christmas movie nights, Krispy Kreme fundraisers, and industry panels.

ARC

  • You can gain valuable marketing insights through panel discussions, compete in live competitions, and network with peers and experts in the field. As an ARC committee member, you’ll play a large role in bringing this event to life by reaching out to potential sponsors, securing speakers, designing promotional materials, and coordinating event logistics. It’s a unique opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes of event planning, build your marketing skills, and meet new people! 

Community Outreach

  • You will be able to work directly with clients to gain hands-on experience in proposing projects, crafting marketing strategies, managing paid advertising, and implementing SEO, among other essential skills.

    This exposure enhances your professional abilities and allows you to build a solid resume and LinkedIn profile, showcasing diverse skill sets! This is an ideal place for students eager to expand their expertise and confidently step into their professional journeys in the future.

Sponsorship

  • Our success is crucial for the success of the MA. As a member of the Sponsorship committee, you will help the MA by finding companies, reaching out to them, and helping close sponsorship deals with them. This will give you practical sales experience in an environment close to a real-life sales team. If you are motivated to pursue a sales career and want to get experience and get ahead, then Sponsorship is the committee to join.

Creative Support

  • The committee collaborates to come up with creative ideas related to BCIT and marketing to help inspire students. We work on creating Instagram posts and stories, LinkedIn posts, and event posters. We also work closely with the other creative committees; communications and digital marketing, to build graphics for the BCITMA’s website and newsletter, The Core. If you are passionate about digital design and want to share your creative side while working with like minded students, the Creative and Branding team will be the perfect fit for you!

Digital Marketing

  • If you're eager to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, social media strategy, and collaborate within a passionate team, the Digital Marketing Committee is the perfect place to start.

Communications

  • The communications committee works closely with the digital marketing and creative & branding committees to ensure cohesion, with the goal of cultivating unity and engagement. Through consistent and timely messaging, the communications committee strengthens connections, fosters engagement, and amplifies our club’s impact within the community.

  • In addition, they guide the Executive Board, which leads the various committees that comprise the BCITMA, developing the club’s chapter plan and subsequent annual report to the American Marketing Association (AMA). Furthermore, they supervise the planning and execution of events, ensuring they meet the BCITMA’s standards and objectives.

First Year Liaisons

  • First Year Liaison’s are also responsible for planning an event exclusively for first year students. This event will be an opportunity to make new friends, learn organization skills, and have fun! 

    Aside from student engagement, First Year Liaison’s are given the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of how student-led organizations operate.
